How to Apply for SASSA Grants

R350 SRD Grant Application

The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant of R350 per month is available to unemployed South Africans who meet the eligibility criteria. Here's how to apply:

Eligibility Requirements

• South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
• 18 years or older
• Unemployed and not receiving any other social grant or UIF payment
• Not receiving income from any other source
• Have a valid South African ID or asylum seeker permit

Online Application Process

Step 2: Complete Your Details
Enter your personal information accurately:

• Full names (as per your ID document)
• ID number
• Date of birth
• Contact number (active mobile number)

Step 3: Provide Banking Details
Enter your bank account information for direct payment. If you don't have a bank account, payments can be made via cash pay points or alternative methods.

Step 5: Submit Application

Other Grant Applications

• 13-digit bar-coded ID document or valid temporary ID certificate
• Proof of residence (not older than 3 months)

Other Grants: Processing times vary by grant type but generally take 3 months from the date of application. You'll be notified of the outcome via SMS or mail.
